Flavia Casella is a journalist, photographer and award-winning documentary filmmaker based in London, UK.

 

She holds a Master's degree in Law and an Master of Arts in Journalism.

 

A chartered lawyer from 2004 to 2010, she worked as a corporate legal adviser and consultant while writing for various editorial groups. She has been a chartered journalist since 2012.

 

Flavia has worked as a broadcast journalist for several local Italian TV stations and as a freelance photographer and videographer for corporate, public and private entities since 2011.

 

In 2017, she wrote, directed and produced Seeds of Renaissance, her first feature documentary film about artists and organic producers living in the UNESCO Piedmont vineyard landscape.

 

The film won the best documentary award at the Food Film Fest Bergamo 2018, and the best web and new media prize at the World Film Carnival Singapore 2021 for its interactive version.

 

Her short film Life over Covid has been awarded the best super short prize at the Sweden Film Awards 2021.

 

Hunger, one of her fine art photography projects, was exhibited at Kensington and Chelsea Art Week 2022.

 

Her projects develop around the themes of nature, food, the environment and the subjectivity of the gaze, with a particular interest in exploring the multiple roles food plays in our lives and how people produce, consume and relate to it. She considers herself an explorer through images, both moving and still.

She pursues personal projects as well as commercial photography.
